Creighton University in Omaha, NE is seeking to hire an Assistant Director of Student Affairs for Creighton’s School of Law.

 

This is a student-facing position responsible for assisting in planning, directing, coordinating, and assessing student affairs programs and activities that support student engagement and development. Responsible for managing and executing major student programs and special events such as new student orientation, graduation and Hooding, Moot Court final reception, while supporting all other student needs, as required, being a primary point of contact and resource. Coordinate with the Admissions Department to transition incoming students with the Registrar. Also serve as a liaison to student services offices within the Law School and across the University to ensure current and prospective student needs are met.

 

Key Responsibilities

  •  Scholarship renewal and assignment. provide and maintain an accurate record of students currently on scholarship and/or students who may be eligible to apply or reapply for scholarships Classification for scholarship renewal. Works with Finance partner to ensure scholarship awards are dispersed and tracked accurately. Help review student scholarship applications and consolidates applications on behalf of Associate Dean. Communicates determinations to students. Researching and reaching to potential scholarship opportunities for students and dissemination them to students. 
  • Management, coordination, and full execution of student programs, events, activities promoting student success and development. (e.g., Orientation, graduation, and hooding, etc.) and primary point of contact for such projects. This includes supporting mentorship programs and student lead organizations programs. Help evaluate program effectiveness and develop recommendations for program enhancement, modification, or discontinuation.
  • Engagement with current and prospective students by building and cultivating relationships with students that supports their academic and professional development. Identifying and supporting students with additional professional, academic, or other resources, and directing students to such resources; developing and implementing programs, services, and activities, to ensure all students find a sense of belonging and connection in the Law School. 
  • Adheres and provides updates regarding budget costs. Provides reporting of budget use to both Associate Dean and SoL Finance partner. This includes tracking scholarship information and staying aligned with budget requirements for student events. 
  • Coordinate with the Admissions Department to transition incoming students with the Registrar. Will assist with visits to campus, scheduling students’ meetings, and admissions event coordinating. Additional assistance with schedule students for classes.

Qualifications

  • Master’s level required; degrees considered around leadership, dispute resolution, business management/administration, law – or any other relevant degree considered for this role. JD preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience required. Experience in a law school (or other professional school) setting with an emphasis on coordinating programs to enhance student growth and professional development. 
  • Experience with program development and event planning and executive level coordinating and/or project management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
