Assistant Facilities Manager

Borsheims is looking for a full-time Assistant Facilities Manager to join our team.  At Borsheims, we take pride in providing our Signature Service to every customer, and you will play a vital role in helping us do that.

 

We are looking for a detailed and organized individual that will act as a working manager and be involved in day to day cleaning, facility maintenance and specialized projects for the overall facility including the retail store and corporate offices.  If you have facilities supervisory experience, are driven, value customer service and like “hands on” work, this may be the job for you. 

 

The ideal candidate should have:

  • One to two years of supervisory/people management experience.
  • Experience with facilities cleaning and maintenance.
  • Experience working with hand tools, floor machines, and general maintenance equipment.
  • Experience with plumbing, electrical and HVAC (no certifications required).
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 Suite – word, excel, outlook, etc.
  • Experience working with outside contractors is a plus.
  • Experience with budget management.

 

You Are:

  • Service-Minded. Commitment to providing excellent service by creating positive experiences for employees and customers.
  • Hands On. - Act as a working manager performing maintenance, cleaning and small construction repair/projects for Borsheims retail store and corporate offices to ensure the facility is maintained in excellent condition, both inside and out. 
  • Leader. Train, develop, evaluate, provide one-on-one coaching and give ongoing feedback to maintenance and cleaning associates. 
  • Effective Communicator. Communicate with staff information from management with regard to events, policy and procedure, and general information. Contract and work with vendors for cleaning, trash removal, recycling, lighting, equipment, glass, display cases, carpet cleaning, elevator repair, HVAC, vending machines, etc. 
  • Detail-Oriented & Organized.  Set staff work schedules.  Ensure payroll and maintenance budgets are followed. Oversee purchases of store paper supplies, preprinted forms, maintenance/cleaning supplies, lighting supplies, miscellaneous office supplies and copy machines. Ensure a preventative maintenance program is planned and executed on a consistent basis.
  • Problem-solver.  Take pride in resolving issues promptly.  Determined to find a positive solution.
  • Technical Aptitude: Knowledge in facility systems and maintenance. Assist in planning, bidding and contracting for special projects that may include construction, remodeling, maintenance/cleaning, repair, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ability to work assigned schedule on a regular basis.
  • Ability to communicate with customers, co-workers, and business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ability to see well enough to read small print i.e.  memos, supply lists, work orders, and labels on boxes.
  • Ability to hear and speak well enough to converse with others in person, via telephone and paging systems and using hand-held cordless radio.
  • Ability to move about the store from department to department, get behind narrow counter areas, bend down or reach up into drawers/shelves, and climb a ladder.
    • Dexterity to write in small print, use hand tools, change tiny lightbulbs, and use material handling devices such as two- and four-wheel hand dollies.
    • Stamina to work standing and walking for eight hours.
    • Ability to lift a minimum of 75 lbs.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license.
      • Ability to tolerate exposure to dust and cleaning chemicals and moving indoors and outdoors often during the day.
      • Knowledge of OSHA requirements with regard to safe handling of chemicals and equipment.
