Position Summary: Senior Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the network infrastructure of a company. This role requires advanced technical skills, strategic planning abilities, and leadership qualities. The Senior Network Engineer will ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the company's network systems, which support core organizational functions.

Position requirements

Education: Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field required. A Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Licensure: N/A

Certification: Cisco Certified Network Associate

Experience: 7+ years of Network Engineering experience including knowledge and experience with Cisco networking and communications hardware preferred.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Experience with network design, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering large-scale network projects.
  • Proficiency in network protocols and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS).
  • Hands-on experience with network hardware (Cisco and Palo Alto experience preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco communication hardware and systems preferred.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware).
  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., PRTG, SolarWinds).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Essential Job Functions

  • Design and implement scalable network and communication solutions to meet the business requirements of the organization.
  • Develop and maintain network architecture diagrams and documentation.
  • Install and configure network equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Ensure that network implementations adhere to industry standards and best practices.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues proactively.
  • Perform regular network and communication maintenance, including updates, patches, and configuration changes.
  • Optimize network performance by analyzing and adjusting network traffic patterns.
  • Implement and manage network security measures, such as firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Provide advanced technical support and guidance to IT staff and end-users.
  • Resolve complex network and communication issues and outages in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers to resolve external network and communication issues.
  • Lead network and communication-related projects, including planning, execution, and post-implementation review.
  • Mentor and train junior network engineers and IT staff.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of network services with other systems.
  • Provide strategic input on network infrastructure investments and improvements.
  • Support and maintain communications system.
  • On Call Rotation.
  • Ability to work after hour/weekend as required
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical requirements: This position is classified as Medium Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
