Position Summary: The Senior Manager of Data & Analytics lead our data team in leveraging advanced analytics, data science, and cloud technologies to drive innovation and improve patient outcomes. In this role, you will play a key part in shaping and executing our data strategy, optimizing data operations, and driving analytical initiatives that enhance decision-making across the organization. This leadership role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic vision, and people management skills. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in analytics, machine learning, and data engineering while fostering a high-performance, data-driven culture.

Position Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field preferred OR combined education and work experience. Master's degree preferred.

Licensure: N/A

Certification: N/A

Experience: 10+ years of experience in data analytics, data science, or related fields, with at least 3+ years in a leadership/management role. Proven experience leading data science and analytics teams in a fast-paced environment. Expertise in predictive modeling, machine learning, AI, and statistical analysis. Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and R for data analysis and automation. Experience with cloud computing platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and big data technologies (Databricks, Spark, etc.). Track record of successfully delivering high-impact analytics solutions in a healthcare setting preferred.



Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inform multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in data analysis, performance measurement.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as PowerBI, Looker, or Tableau.
  • Familiarity with data platforms like such as Snowflake or Databricks is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, or R is preferred.
  • Project management experience.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare data standards, privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA), and security best practices preferred.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop and execute OrthoNebraska's enterprise-wide data and analytics strategy to drive business insights, operational efficiency, and patient care improvements.
  • Lead the integration of machine learning models and predictive analytics to improve forecasting, patient care, and operational efficiency.
  • Establish and oversee the implementation of data governance policies, ensuring compliance with HIPAA, security standards, and data privacy regulations.
  • Partner with IT, clinical leadership, finance, and operations to create a long-term roadmap for data infrastructure, cloud computing, and AI/ML capabilities.
  • Act as a thought leader in data analytics, presenting key insights to executive leadership, board members, and external stakeholders.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a growing team of data professionals, including data scientists, data engineers, and analysts.
  • Set clear goals, performance expectations, and development plans for team members to foster career growth.
  • Ensure the team stays current with emerging data science and cloud computing technologies to maintain a cutting-edge analytics function.
  • Oversee project management, capacity planning, and resource allocation to align with business priorities. Advanced Analytics & Data Science
  • Spearhead the use of advanced statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and machine learning techniques to identify opportunities for improving operational performance and patient outcomes.
  • Develop and refine AI-driven automation to enhance reporting, revenue cycle analytics, and patient engagement strategies.
  • Work closely with clinical teams to create decision-support tools that improve patient care pathways and outcomes.
  • Drive the development of real-time analytics and interactive dashboards to empower stakeholders with actionable insights.

Operational Excellence & Data Infrastructure

  • Oversee data architecture and ensure efficient data storage, processing, and retrieval in cloud environments (Azure, Databricks, HC Ignite).
  • Optimize ETL pipelines and data engineering workflows to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
  • Continuously improve data quality assurance processes to ensure accuracy, integrity, and consistency across all analytics initiatives.
  • Implement cost-control measures to optimize cloud resource utilization and reduce unnecessary expenses. Executive & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Present data-driven insights and strategic recommendations to C-suite executives, board members, and key stakeholders
  • Partner with clinicians, operations, and finance teams to translate complex data findings into business and clinical strategies.
  • Lead cross-functional projects that align with organizational KPIs, revenue growth, and patient experience improvements.
  • Represent OrthoNebraska's data strategy in industry forums and conferences, positioning the organization as a leader in healthcare analytics.

  • Physical requirements: This position is classified as Sedentary Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally) up to (33% of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (33%-66% of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
